TOXIC RELATIONSHIP AMONG UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

The joy of a parent is to see his/her children succeeding in their lives but this has turn out to opposite of their expectations.I know many maybe wondering why am talking about this,the current situation in our universities is worsening. It is so sad that suicide cases among the students is the current trend in our campuses. Over the recent years suicidal cases has risen. The main caused being issues of love scandals.
University is a place where we experience alot of new things in life unlike in high school when we used to work under the strict control of teachers and where some freedoms were limited. Here all freedoms lies upon you hands. They are all sort kind of relationship going on there, others being true love and a relationship where you simply have no idea of what it is going on. Yes, am not condemning relationship at least each everyone needs a portion of love in our lives but how are we treating our partners?
This brings us into our topic "Toxic relationship in Universities" What is a toxic relationship? This are behaviors or habits where one partner in a relationship tend to mistreat another partner developing emotional torture or even physically. But my big question is why do students in our campuses rushes into relationship in my thoughts, the main business of attending university was to acquire knowledge and skills that will help us to fulfill our dreams.Why get into relationship?
Peer pressure is the major reason that has made many our students to run into this relationship, many of them believes that dating in campus is fashion and if you don't have a partner you're meaningless.This has became a current trend in our universities. Many of the students have fallen into this trap without being psychologically prepare for. Some of the students join university at a young age of seventeen and sixteen years. For them this is the first time they have freedom and making decision is quite problem and hence the higher chances is that they will copy what their colligues are doing.
As we all that relationship has got it's challenges which requires patience and endurance and thus if you are not prepared you can't break up with your partner.Some students commits much time ,money and emotions to their partners. They forget is just circumstantial relationship after all and lives them hopeless in case of break ups.
About this relationships also cheating is rampant and mainly this happen when the relationship was about mutual benefitial of one another, once the money gets depleted love also just ends there.This causes heartbreaks and since the students are still younger psychologically they become hopeless and they even think they won't overcome such situations. And most of them avoid bitter break ups, some of the students decides even to commits suicide.
In conclusion what is the solution to this? Higher institution should come up with guidance and counseling services to help to solves issues that maybe affecting students life. This is most dormant department in many of our universities of which is supposed to be working on reducing suicide cases among students.
